VILLOWO® POINTS

VILLOWO® is distinguished by its unique 100-point Game Point scoring system with best of 3 Games.

Every rally won awards 10 points; upon reaching 100 points, the player or team reaches Game Point, and winning the next rally wins the game.

If the opponent wins that rally,  the score becomes 100–100 (DEUCE).  Following Deuce, the Advantage system applies until a player or team wins the Game

VILLOWO® SERVICE & MARKS

Frequently Asked Questions

VILLOWO® was born from the vision of father and son, Raghu Kumar Raghavelu and Rrian Kumar Raghu the Founders & Creators of a new generation of sport.

VILLOWO® is a competitive racket sport played on a standard VILLOWO® court using an approved VILLOWO® Racket and VILLOWO® Ball. The sport is played in Singles and Doubles formats, with players competing to win rallies, accumulate points and win Games and Matches. Each rally won awards 10 points, with 100 points constituting Game Point. If the opponent wins the next rally, the score becomes 100–100 (Deuce), after which the Advantage System applies until the Game is won. A VILLOWO® match is played as Best of Three Games, with the player or team winning two Games declared the winner. VILLOWO RULES

Players use an approved VILLOWO® Racket and VILLOWO® Ball that comply with the technical standards established by VILLOWO International. The VILLOWO® Racket shall have a maximum length of 46 cm, maximum width of 27 cm and maximum thickness of 38 mm, with a solid playing surface,  Hole  Cylindrical holes required across the central hitting zone approved perforations and a durable composite construction and Diameter of 9.0 to 13.0 mm and Weight between  320 grams to 390 grams.

The VILLOWO® Ball shall have a circumference of 40–42 cm, a weight of 56–59.4 grams, and an internal pressure of approximately  10.1 PSI and 11.4 PSI with a resilient rubber core and durable synthetic outer surface. Only equipment meeting the prescribed VILLOWO® technical sp1cifications and approval requirements shall be permitted in officially sanctioned competitions.

VILLOWO® follows a One-Serve System, under which the server has only one service attempt for each rally and there is no second serve. The server must serve from the designated Service Mark according to the current score: 0, 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 points Right Service Mark; 10, 30, 50, 70 and 90 points Left Service Mark. The served ball must land in the diagonally opposite Service Court, within the applicable service boundaries, following the standard tennis service-court configuration. The Service Line is positioned 21 feet (6.40 m) from the Net, parallel to the Net, with the Centre Service Line dividing each service court into two equal Service Courts. The server must maintain physical contact with the court surface while serving and may not jump, leap, hop or become airborne. The service must comply with the prescribed requirements for position, ball release, ball contact, direction and landing area. A Service Fault immediately ends the rally and awards the rally to the opposing player or team. These service requirements apply to both Singles and Doubles. VILLOWO RULES(2)

After a legal serve, the ball is in play and must cross the Net and land within the applicable Service Court. The receiving player or team must return the ball before it bounces twice on their side. The ball remains in play until a fault occurs, including the ball landing outside the applicable court area, failing to legally cross the Net, bouncing twice on the same side, or another prescribed fault. A ball touching a court line is considered IN, while a ball landing outside the applicable boundary lines is OUT. VILLOWO RULES(2)

The VILLOWO® service may be delivered using an overhand or underarm service, provided that the server complies with all prescribed VILLOWO® service requirements. The server must maintain physical contact with the court surface throughout the service and may not jump, leap, hop or become airborne. The ball must be released and struck legally and must land in the diagonally opposite Service Court within the prescribed service boundaries. A violation of any service requirement constitutes a Service Fault and results in the loss of the rally.

Before the first game of each set, the receiving team decides which player will receive the first serve. The two players then alternate receiving each successive serve throughout the game, and the same receiving order is maintained for the remainder of the set.

VILLOWO® uses a unique 100-Point Game Point System, where each rally won awards 10 points. When a player or team reaches 100 points, it reaches Game Point, and the next rally determines the Game. If the opponent wins that rally, the score becomes 100–100 (Deuce). From Deuce, the Advantage System applies, with the player or team holding Advantage required to win the next rally to win the Game.

A VILLOWO® Club is an officially Licensed VILLOWO International Club authorised to promote, develop and conduct VILLOWO® activities in accordance with the official VILLOWO® Book of Rules and Regulations. A licensed club provides a structured environment for players to learn, train, practise, compete and develop, while supporting player registration, local competitions, talent development and participation in the wider VILLOWO® international ecosystem.

In VILLOWO®, the net is a fundamental part of the playing boundary and establishes the separation between the two sides of the court. Players must respect the vertical plane of the net throughout the rally. The rules are designed to ensure fair play, prevent interference, and clearly determine when a player has legally contacted or played the ball.

1. No Contact with the Net or Net Posts

A player shall not touch the net, net cord, or net posts with the body, clothing, racket, or any equipment while the ball is in play. If a player makes such contact while the ball is in play, the player loses the rally immediately. This applies whether the contact is intentional or accidental. A player must therefore maintain sufficient control and spatial awareness when approaching the net.

2. No Reaching Over the Net

A player shall not reach over the net to strike the ball before the ball has crossed the net onto the player's side of the court. The racket, hand, body, or any other part of the player must not interfere with the opponent's opportunity to play the ball. The ball must first legally cross the net into the player's court before the player may make the normal playing contact.

3. Follow-Through Over the Net

A player's racket may cross the vertical plane of the net after the ball has been legally contacted on the player's own side of the court. This is permitted as a natural consequence of the player's follow-through.

The essential requirement is that the initial point of contact between the racket and the ball occurs on the player's own side of the net.

Therefore: Contact on your side = legal follow-through over the net may be permitted. Contact over the net before the ball reaches your side = fault.

4. Spin-Back Exception

A special exception applies when the ball legally lands on a player's side of the court and, because of heavy backspin or other lawful spin, subsequently travels back over the net without being struck by the opponent. In this situation, the player may reach over the net to play the ball, provided that:

  • The player does not touch the net or net posts.
  • The player does not touch the opponent's court.
  • The racket does not make contact with the net.
  • The ball has already bounced on the player's side.
  • The ball has subsequently crossed back over the net due to its own spin or momentum.

This exception recognizes that the opponent's shot has already legally entered the player's court and that the ball's subsequent return over the net is caused by its spin.

5. Around-the-Net-Post Play

In VILLOWO®, a player shall not play the ball around the outside of the net post. The ball must pass over the net and within the boundaries established by the net and court configuration. A player may not intentionally use the area outside the net post to circumvent the net. This provision provides a clear and consistent playing corridor and prevents unconventional shots around the external side of the net structure.

6. Net Serves - Let

When serving, if the served ball touches the net cord and subsequently lands legally within the correct service court, the serve shall be declared a LET. The rally does not begin from that serve, and the server shall replay the serve. A let serve does not count as a fault.

For example:

Serve → touches net cord → lands inside the correct service court → LET → serve replayed.

However, if the served ball touches the net and does not land legally in the required service court, the applicable service fault shall apply.

Fundamental Principle

The VILLOWO® net rules can therefore be summarized as follows:

SituationRulingPlayer touches net while ball is in play.

Loss of Rally Player touches net post while ball is in play.

Loss of Rally Racket touches net while ball is in play.

Loss of Rally Clothing touches net while ball is in play.

Loss of Rally Player reaches over net before ball crosses to their side Fault / Loss of Rally Racket naturally crosses net after legal contact on player's side Permitted Ball bounces on player's side and spins back over net Player may reach over to play it, without touching net Ball played around outside of net post Not Permitted Serve touches net cord and lands legally in service court LET — Replay Serve Serve  touches net and lands outside required service court Service Fault

VILLOWO® Governing Principle

The net is a boundary, not an obstacle to be manipulated. Players must allow the ball to legally cross into their playing area before making contact, must not interfere with the net structure, and must maintain complete control of their racket and body during play.

These provisions ensure that VILLOWO® maintains a clear, technically enforceable and internationally consistent standard for net play, while allowing legitimate follow-through and the exceptional spin-back situation.
